BIOGRAPHY

Haitian-American soprano Ardeen Pierre, from Houston, TX, covers the role of Berta in The Santa Fe Opera summer of 2022 production of Il Barbiere di Siviglia, and performs in Carmen, and the world premiere of M. Butterfly. Pierre is a recent Santa Fe Opera Apprentice Singer, and a Baumgartner Studio Artist with The Florentine Opera Company. Recent roles include Countess Ceprano Rigoletto, Mimì La Bohème (cover), Maguelonne in Viardot’s Cendrillon, and Duquesa Carolina Luisa Fernanda. Pierre was a St. Louis District winner of the 2022 Metropolitan Opera Eric and Dominique Laffont Competition, and recently won second place in the George Shirley Vocal Competition, as well as the Spiritual Prize, the Soprano Prize, the Art Song Price, and the Operatic Aria Prize.

 

Opera credit roles include Suor Angelica Suor Angelica, cancelled due to COVID-19, Fiordiligi Così fan tutte, Contessa Almaviva Le nozze di Figaro, and Arminda La finta giardiniera. Pierre has performed partial roles of Giulietta I Capuleti e i Montecchi, Antonia Les contes d’Hoffmann, and Micaëla Carmen. Pierre had the opportunity to workshop Nkeiru Okoye’s Home of My Ancestors, and Faye Chiao’s Katie: The Strongest of the Strong with the Houston Grand Opera (HGOco). Pierre was a featured soloist with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra ACE Concerts for Schools.

 

Pierre holds a Performance Diploma from Southern Methodist University, a Master of Music from Rice University, and Bachelor of Music from Sam Houston State University.
